I spent the morning frantically grading exams, washing clothes, figuring out how to pack six weeks worth of junk in two bags, washing dishes, watching the hubs water plants and mop floors and tying up other loose ends.
I can't believe it's finally here! I spent the cab ride to the airport thinking of all the things I forgot (like my markups on that proposal and snacks in case the airplane food is yucky)...
I talked to mom, dad, mother-in-law, brother and bestie and texted with another brother, my first born and my neighbor. They made me laugh and cry. Crazy thoughts run through my head: what if something terrible happens? If it's meant to be... What if I want to come home as soon as the hubs leaves? Bestie told me last night to get over it! I'll do my six weeks and enjoy every minute, darn it!!
So now I'm at my local airport waiting for the first leg of the journey. Dad said "I hope you're excited and not anxious." It's both daddy, but I'll be ok because you said so!
It's time to board! See y'all!! Next stop: Cape Town, South Africa!!

Good luck Dr.Yates, have fun!
